Romantic Trip to Barcelona

Our new year so far has been jam-packed with Moving House and Setting up a new buisness plus loads more, we've barely had time to see each other, relax and just enjoy being together, so we decided to take a City Break to Barcelona.

This exciting blog post entry is me, sharing with all you lovely guys our Barcelona Gossip. All our exciting and strange finds in a 3 day city break.....

Part 1

We arrive in Barcelona safely and on time
Staying at a beautiful modern hotel just off the Las Ramblas called Hesperia Ramblas

We set off straight away for the Nou Camp
Barcelona's football stadium

Us!
We had a lovely walk/tour around the Staduim

Walking back to the hotel to freshen up ready for supper we walked up the Las Rambles
This is a long stretch of road, which everything branched off... beautiful little boutiques, amazing smelling chocolate confectioners and yummy looking patissere's
The Las Ramblas was illluminated with beautiful old fashion street lighting.
Cafe after cafe and Spanish bar after spanish bar. Lots of artists drawing Cariacatures, statues which came to life if you dropped a couple of Euros in their pot and random stalls like 'pet stall' selling rabbirs/tortoises/hamsters and chicksn and flower stalls selling beautiful fresh flowers

Tidy Turtles..so sweet - they were caged alongside dwalf bunnies and little birds

yummy heart shaped cookies in a lovely small patissere, tucked away in the back streets of the Las Ramblas

At the top of the Las Ramblas was the
Boquiera Marcket
...this was a real eye-opener in to how the spanish purchase their goods and what they use to cook with (some of these images could make you a little squeamish..)

huge selection of meats and scrummy salami's

Delicious chocolate and hundreds of beautiful truffles..the smell was incredible

this was the largest Pic 'n' Mix ive ever seen
27 euros a Kilo

Fish...smelly but SO fresh

Piglets....laughing? they dont look like they are having too much fun, eh?

Prawns/Crabs/Lobster and Langoustines
some of which were still alive and moving..ew!

thats right...Sheeps Head

ummm....another Piglet and some random cows 'parts'
feeling hungry?

Ostrich Eggs

...after the market we headed back to the Las Ramblas, ended up in a lovely Spanish restuarant and had delicious 'Paella' yummy

Part 2
Park Guell
Gaudi Gardens

Some beautiful slabs, even the pavement was built with such detail

Incredible mosiac detail on the ceiling

..this amazing mosiac dragan water fountain is set at the foot of the gardens, making such a statement

So we were lucky enough to have some gorgeous sunshine on our last day... we got the 'bus' up the mountain to the beautiful gardens of Guadi

Surrounded by beautiful green trees and amazing intricate brick work, creating bridges and archways through and around the mosaic detailing...

The Marina
Barcelona's Harbour

We had a lovely romantic stroll around the harbour and stopped off for a cold beer
The sun glistened off the the water, illuminated all the fabulous yachts. The air was fresh and salty with the sound of seagulls

The Olympic Stadium

amazing waterfall running across the entire entrance..

An amazing view from the Palace

  2. Fantastic Images!

Recalled many memories from my trip to Barca' a few years ago. I found Las Ramblas extraordinary - so much going on!

I loved the architecture of Gaudi which I found to be both beautiful and intimidating in equal measure.

Highlights for me (being a guy) were the Nou Camp (or Camp Nou!) the cathedral and the workers demonstration in the square which was peaceful and good humoured!

    Thanks for sharing!
